James and the Dragon - A Review by Susan Moffat

Image
Welcome to Read, Review, Love! This time I’m reviewing a children’s book called James and the Dragon by Theresa Snyder.   Amazon Book Description Do you love dragons? You will find Farloft irresistible. James & the Dragon is book #1 of the exciting saga of Farloft the Dragon and his friends. What would you do if you were adopted by a dragon? When ten-year-old orphan James nearly drowns in a bog, he finds himself rescued by Farloft, a centuries old dragon with a glittering collection of treasures and an even richer collection of stories. But, dragons and boys are not meant to live together – or are they? When Laval – a wizard harboring a secret hatred for Farloft finds out about James, he sees his chance for revenge. My Review Farloft the Dragon is fantastic! This is a children’s book that grown-ups can really enjoy. It is well written and full of rich characters, especially James and Farloft the Dragon. I became very attached to Farloft the Dragon,

Being An Author: Questions From A Young Reader

Image
Recently, one of my young readers asked me several questions about being an author. I thought that you may find the questions and answers interesting. How do you get your books published? There are a number of ways that you can get your books published. The main ways are by sending your book to a publisher or by publishing yourself. There may be other options, although I don't know about them. A Self Published Paperback and E-Book With the first option you send your books to publishers (one at a time) and see if they are interested in your book. They will then do a lot of the hard work for you, although you will probably be expected to edit your book. This means making improvements so that the book is the best it can possibly be. Alternatively, you can decide to publish yourself (this is called self publishing).I decided to publish the books myself. Do you have to do it on computer? It is always a good idea to write up your book onto a computer. That way you

The Sword and the Flame: The Forging - A Review by Susan Moffat

Image
Welcome to Read, Review, Love! This time I’m reviewing a fantasy book called The Sword and the Flame: The Forging by CP Bialois.         Amazon Book Description In a world where magic and the sword rule and dragons are forgotten, a band of friends find each other but can they overcome their own fears and trials in time to fulfill their destiny? Their adventure begins in The Sword and the Flame: The Forging. Before a weapon can be used, it must be forged in the fires of life. Coming September 6, 2012... The Sword and the Flame: The Purging. "One must die for all to sleep." My Review I have read a huge number of books from the fantasy genre, and found this to be one of the most enjoyable. The characters are very interesting and well developed. The storyline is very exciting and hard to predict . I enjoyed the twists and turns and found it difficult to put the book. I will definitely be reading the 2 nd and 3 rd books in the series as I have to know wha

Only If I Could - A Review by Susan Moffat

Image
Welcome to Read, Review, Love! This time I’m reviewing a book of poetry called Only If I Could by poet JAnn Bowers.          Amazon Book Description Poetry the sweet sounds of its words, the imagery, the rhyme, the rhythm, the poet itself all blends into harmony of the universe. Poetry is an art form on which opens the mind of the poet and reader with a strong connection to what is. I try to manipulate my reader into feeling what is and what I am drawing. If I accomplish this then my job is done and I move onto my next drawing of words. Each word I use must represent the what is, the how is and the objective of. To be the poet, one must be the poem to be able to connect with their readers, if one cannot be the poet nor the poem, then it’s not poetry. When I write or read poetry, I must be able to feel some type of explosion in my veins, like what I would imagine a bullet would feel like, then I know it’s good. When I don’t feel this explosion, then it must not be, at least n

Writing A Legal Disclaimer For Your Blog

Image
The following question recently occurred to me, do we need a legal disclaimer when writing a blog? I did some research. The answer definitely seems to be yes . How many of us are blindly typing away on our blogs without considering the legal implications? Probably quite a few. URL: www.freeimages.co.uk Description: " More than 16,000 Free hi-res stock photo images for Web, Design and Printed use. Design, Image Editing and Webmaster tips " So where do you start when you have no legal knowledge. I had an idea of some of the things I'd want to include, but how to word it, and what about what I hadn't thought about? So once again I turned to the internet . Luckily,  other kind bloggers have also asked and answered that question . Here's a blog article, written by a blogger called Raelyn Tan, that I found particularly helpful: https://raelyntan.com/write-blog-disclaimer/ This then gave me a set of points that I neede

An Inspirational Quote

Inspirational Quote, Writing Course News and more Expect Success Whilst reading the February 2017 issue of the Weight Watchers magazine, I came across a very inspirational quote: "Whenever you're doubting your own capabilities ask yourself, What would I think, say or do differently right now if I knew I couldn't fail?" Then get on with it! Continue on a path towards success and don't waver from it." Well I thought that was a lovely quote, which could be applied to almost any area of our lives. Fairford Centre Creative Writing Course After telling you about the writing course that started it all for me, I emailed them and told them about publishing my first book. They were thrilled to hear of my success and have included my story on their website.
